CDC announces limited eviction moratorium in effect Aug. 3-Oct. 3, 2021
(Aug. 3, 2021) The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced a new, limited eviction moratorium, in effect Aug. 3-Oct. 2021.
As of Aug. 3, based on COVID-19 case counts, this moratorium is in effect in Bucks, Delaware and Montgomery counties but not Chester County. Each county’s eligibility for the moratorium is subject to change based on COVID-19 case counts at the CDC COVID Data Tracker. Therefore, LASP recommends that renters in all 4 counties continue to apply for rent/utility assistance as soon as possible.
RENTERS: To prevent eviction in counties where the moratorium is in place, you MUST sign the CDC declaration. DO THIS BEFORE YOU GO TO COURT!

If you have an eviction hearing in a county with the moratorium in effect (Bucks, Delaware and Montgomery counties as of Aug. 3, 2021):
Before you go to court: Print and sign the CDC Declaration for Renters (ideally 2 copies, 1 for your landlord and 1 for the judge).
If you do not have a printer, visit a local library, community center, or contact your state legislator's office.
Bring the 2 signed copies of the CDC Declaration for Renters to court. Present them to the judge and to your landlord at your hearing.
LASP's free legal Helpline is available Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., or apply online at lasp.org/apply.
APPLY NOW for rent and utility assistance!
Funding to help renters is available in Pennsylvania; Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties; and Norristown. See story in lasp.org/news: bit.ly/rent-utility-help.
