LASP invites Montgomery County Public Defender clients to FREE LEGAL CLINIC every Wednesday

(March 15, 2021) Legal Aid of Southeastern PA (LASP) invites Montgomery County Public Defender clients to a FREE LEGAL CLINIC every Wednesday.

The Public Defenders help with criminal cases. Legal Aid (LASP) helps with problems outside of criminal court. Drop into the clinic to talk with a LASP attorney one on one.

Learn what your rights are, and how a LASP attorney can help you take action. Protect your housing, family unity, work, public benefits, and more! Some areas where LASP can help:

Housing

  • Public housing/Section 8: Are you being told to leave your home or that you will lose Section 8 help? & other problems.

  • Landlord/Tenant: Evictions & other problems

  • Utility problems (gas/electricity shut offs, & more)

  • Mortgage Foreclosures

Benefits

  • Problems applying for or keeping public benefits, and overpayments:

  • SSI/SSDI, Unemployment, SNAP (food stamps), Medical assistance (Medicaid), Medicare, TANF, & more.

Family

  • Office of Children and Youth (OCY) investigations

  • Dependency cases in Juvenile Court (LASP represents parents)

  • Custody

Work and Criminal Records

  • Problems with professional licenses for work, or with driver's license suspensions

  • Clearing criminal records (expungements & more)

You can always call LASP's Helpline to apply for help: (877) 429-5994, Mon. thru Fri., 9 am.-1 p.m. LASP provides free legal help to those who qualify.
