CDC eviction moratorium Sept. 4-Dec. 31, 2020
(Oct. 7, 2020) The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) eviction moratorium took effect Sept. 4, 2020. It declares a national moratorium on residential evictions, through Dec. 31, 2020, for nonpayment (of rent, as well as other fees or charges) under the authority of 42 C.F.R. § 70.2. The moratorium applies only to tenants who present a signed form declaration, to their landlord.
Christina Drzal, LASP Regional Housing Supervising Attorney, shared a fact sheet about the CDC order, officially titled, "Temporary Halt in Residential Evictions To Prevent the Further Spread of COVID-19." For a two-page PDF, click here or on the image at right.
