Virtual Name Change Clinic - Montgomery County

After the success of their first name change clinic, the Montgomery Bar Association and Montgomery County Prothonotary's Office are partnering to offer a second Virtual Name Change Clinic this spring. Some Legal Aid of Southeastern PA (LASP) attorneys will participate in the clinic, which is open to all Montgomery County residents age 18 and older – including neighbors in the transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming communities.

The clinic will be held over Zoom on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 4-6 p.m.

Please register by Wednesday, May 3: https://bit.ly/name-change-clinic-5-17-2023.

Each participant will be assigned an appointment slot and attorney prior to the clinic. These friendly, volunteer attorneys will assist participants with the name change process – answering questions, offering advice, and helping them prepare paperwork. An attorney might also represent their assigned client (or clients) on their petition hearing date.

This consultation is free for all participants. However, petitioners will be responsible for paying for associated costs for the name change petition, such as fingerprinting services, and other reduced court fees.

“The Montgomery Bar Association is thrilled to be conducting a second name change clinic," MBA Executive Director Denise Vicario said. "The first was such a success that we are moving forward with the second clinic much sooner than anticipated. It is a privilege to serve the Montgomery County community, and we look forward to our second batch of smiling faces on the name change hearing day!”
