Delco CARES helps homeowners affected by COVID-19 with mortgage and utility assistance
(July 2021) Delco CARES assistance is available to qualified homeowners in Delaware County who have been financially impacted by COVID-19.
The mortgage relief program is made possible through $1.16 million CDBG-CV funds from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
To be eligible for Delco CARES, homeowners must demonstrate:
Financial impact due to COVID-19
Owner-occupant with a current household annual income of no more than 80% of the HUD-defined Area Median Income
Proof of homeowner’s insurance
they are p-to-date with county, municipal and school tax payments (or in a payment plan)
Available assistance through Delco CARES:
Mortgage and utility costs for a period not to exceed three consecutive months.
Total assistance available can be no more than $6,000, of which no more than $1,000 may be for utility payments.
Eligible utilities include water, sewer, electric, gas, and internet.
Financial assistance payments through this program will be made directly to the mortgagee or utility company.
Grants are available on a first-come basis to eligible applicants.
