MEDIA - Join the Delaware County Bar Association's Community Outreach Committee for a CLE & community event, "Understanding Protection from Abuse Law & Associated Court Guidelines & Protocols." The event is Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023 at the Delaware County Bar Association, 335 W. Front St., Media, PA 19063. Lunch is at 12 p.m. The CLE/community information session is from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Register through the DCBA: bit.ly/DV-11-15-2023. The event is free to the community. For attorneys seeking CLE credit, the cost is $30 for DCBA members and $45 for non-member attorneys.

Panelists will discuss the limits of the Protection from Abuse Law and associated court guidelines and protocols. The program will help law enforcement personnel understand what happens at a PFA proceeding. The parameters of the law will be examined and explained (who is subject to protection and under what circumstances, how the PFA Orders should be enforced, how do weapons get handled and other valuable information).

The presentation will also offer practical, detailed information to the public concerning how PFA hearings are conducted, and on what grounds may the proceedings be postponed or withdrawn. What special concerns are raised and handled where minors are involved. The improper use of PFAs, how the PFA case must be proven, and what relief is available will also be addressed.
