Legal professionals, as veterans’ advocates, can help veterans not only with their legal issues but also with healing from trauma.
How do we zealously advocate for survivors and, at the same time, protect ourselves from vicarious trauma and burnout? Trauma-informed, client-centered advocacy is designed to help an individual feel safe and empowered to make their own choices. Understanding advocacy techniques and using them properly not only helps the veteran, but also the attorney who is at risk for experiencing vicarious trauma.
Learn effective strategies for engaging with clients sensitively to avoid re-traumatizing the individual through actions and words.
Veterans Treatment Courts ensure the men and women who serve this country have the opportunity for treatment and restoration. Learn about Veterans Treatment Courts and their impact on Pennsylvania Veterans.
